We started our first Road So Far Hunter’s Journal at Phoenix Comic Con when we debuted our new fandom inspired journals. You can see my video walk-through here. We filled it up and I was so lucky to get my final autographs to complete it at the Creation Entertainment Supernatural Jacksonville convention. LOOKEY! *gasp*
I babbled like an idiot to Jared and barely spoke to Jensen. #fail
I started our second Hunter’s Journal in Pasadena and filled it up in Jacksonville. Each journal I do is a little different and I made sure to fill a page with signatures from the Jaxcon peeps! This is something I want to do at every show.
Below are shots of all of my new pages. I love them so much! Some people say “This must have taken you a long time!” The answer is honestly no. I will take my journal into one or two panels, jot down my favorite things they say while I’m sitting there, take a few photos and then it’s ready to go! That was our goal with these journals, to just jot your stuff down, stick you convention photos, ticket stubs and stuff on the pages and bam – you’ve got this great book that only took a few minutes to put together!
My journal and our new Carry On bag
I want to add more to the inside front cover. I love using Silver Sharpie!
I added our Jimmy John’s menu and phone number to our schedule page!
My Crowley spread! You can move the pages and sleeves around to make different spreads
Our JaxCon signature page! <3
Our SPN Family pages start with family and friends <3
Don’t let anyone tell you the photographers aren’t rock stars in their own rite.
One of my favorite parts of our journals are the Panel Notes pages. It’s so fun to write down and remember funny quotes!
My daughter took this great shot of Ruth Connell at ChiCon so I printed it before this show and taped it to the page
I add pictures from different conventions. The top one was taken at PasCon and the other two were from JaxCon.
I have room to add more, I need to take some costume contest pictures!
I dedicated my last page to the incredible Saturday Night Special concert!
I added my photo-op with Osric along with some of Creation’s 8 x 10 stills.
I also use one of our zipper pouches to collect the stuff I want to stick on the pages later.
These are just my ideas, you can do anything you want with your own pages! Move them around, stick stuff anywhere, that’s what these are made for!
We are making only as many leather journals as we have pre-sold and are beginning production tomorrow! These gorgeous binders are handmade using English Bridle Leather. They come with our 20 beautifully designed gamer’s pages, 4 sleeves, 2 business card pages, a pouch and a Sharpie. You can order the Warrior’s Pack and get the bag and mini journal too!
Last week we announced that we have signed a license agreement with Gen Con® to produce a Gen Con branded Con*Quest Adventure Journal™, tote bag, mini journal, and tabletop gaming pages! You can check out the press release here.
Now we’re ready to get started designing our new pages!
For the cover, we’re going to produce a new canvas binder with the Gen Con and Con*Quest logos. My plan for the inside pages is to use some of our existing artwork and incorporate new pages that really fit the needs and uses of attendees. This is where you come in! Whether you back us last year during our Kickstarter or not, we need your input. To me, the most useful pages for Gen Con are Artist Quest, Panel Quest, Cosplay Quest and City Quest, along with the boxes, squares and other coinciding pages that we have used.
The removed pages are: Autograph Quest, Vendor Quest, Peep Quest. We keep our 4 Ultra Pro sleeves, the business card holder (natch) and zipper pouch. We can add 3 to 4 new page designs, double printing them so it totals 6 to 8 new pages.
What pages would you like to see?
One KS backer last year used our general squares designed page to make demo notes.
We also saw people holding up white paper with their gamer tags on them so they could find their groups. We know character notes are important. Tell us in the comments here, on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Tumblr: what pages would you use most? How can we make this journal the very best tool for you to not only capture your Gen Con fun, but to value it as a an integral part of your experience? The new pages will be available in the full journal as well as an “expansion pack” that can be purchased separately.
Plus we’re adding our Con*Panion mini journal into the mix! This 4″ x 6-3/4″ handheld mini journal is the perfect small notepad for note taking and the pages can then be tucked into sleeves that are incorporated into your journal.
Tell us what would work for you? Lined pages, open blanks, a combination?
We’ll be collecting feedback through April 17 so think about it, talk about it and share it with us!
And thanks again to the fantastic support of the Gen Con and gaming community. We wouldn’t be where we are today without you!
The 3 ring, canvas bound front and back covers are printed on quality paper stock and sewn to corrugated board for a completely handcrafted, unique feel. Our custom long handled tote bag is included in this pre-order!
The inside pages are designed with a burnt paper look and printed on archival quality 80 lb. matte cover stock. Each journal features 14 pages including Autograph Quest, Panel Quest for panel notes and Cosplay Quest to capture the costume contest fun! Two Ultra Pro sleeves are included to keep your photo ops safe, as well as business card page.
We will have extra sleeves, extra pages and of course our deluxe red canvas journals at the show. Plus we’ll have a selection of our One Less Nemesis tees and some exciting merchandise as well.
Take advantage of the fantastic comic and design artists in Artist Alley at pretty much every comic con. Take your journal to one of their tables and ask them to draw an original piece in your book (usually a very nominal fee). Or you can buy one of their small pieces of art, have them autograph the page and stick the art and photo them next to it. This creates your own, one-of-a-kind collectible that no one else will have. Here’s my quick video:
